4/23/07 NOW: CO/KS/OK/TX

Trying to get after the I-20 split cell, but it's scootin and I feel I'll just be chasing the wind all night. A lot of enhancement on to the north just on the dryline S/SE of LBB. I heard reports of damage in Colorado City, TX with the tornado still on the ground along the interstate.

That beast down by Colorado City, TX is amazing. I was surprised to see such a storm fire down there, where capping was expected to be so strong, while the stuff over the TX Panhandle was never really able to get going (in a seemingly much more favorable area). Anyone know what choked everything off up there? At any rate, that big, bad storm looks like it will remain a threat for a very long time, producing hail as big or bigger than baseballs and tornadoes.

The TOR Warning with that cell Southeast of Lubbock has the smallest tornado warning I have ever seen. Technically, there are two out. The smaller one for Mitchell County, TX is tiny.

It's because they did a HORRIBLE job of drawing polygons. There's no reason for northern Fisher Co to be in the pathcast.

Cyclic, as in a new hook echo is developing and goin to take the originals place, this thing isnt goin to die for a while

FWIW....the tornado has reportedly been on the ground for quite a while now. So, it has not cycled out of the tornadogenesis/tornado producing stage yet...despite the appearance on radar.

SVS from 8:12pm CDT makes no mention of the tornado still being on the ground - where's your info from?

Surprised at lack of discussion on storms near Dodge City and Goodland, KS. SVS's on both of these mention reported tornadoes. Hope someone is on these storms.

Roscoe, Texas right underneath the velocity couplet, with Sweetwater in line next, and about 75-90 mins away from northside of Abilene IF it holds together. Tornado has apparently lifted, because the new SVS does not mention it? Still a dangerous storm that should be running parallel OVER I 20 for the next 30-60 mins.

Interesting note, this storm appears to be the most prolific tornado producer of the night thus far. With that being said, it doesn't even fall within the slight risk on today's SPC outlook.

Edit: It actually appears that SPC has extended the slight risk to encompass the two southern TORN watch boxes.

Source=NWS. They had statements confirming a large and dangerous tornado on the ground for quite a while. Just because the latest SVS issued at 8:15 CDT states that they are continuing to track a tornado does not mean that it is no longer on the ground. So, as I said, the tornado was reported to be on the ground for quite awhile, based on spotter reports.
