3/7/09 NOW: TX, OK, KS

Verne Carlson is on it, but the stream from TV.net is super sketchy.

Sketchy, yep, I have yet to get this stream to work today. Nothing showing for me at all on the video, but the still picture seems to work occasionally, although I can't seem to control even that feature. Too bad, because I did once get a glimpse of a still shot showing a close, ragged, white, tornado-ish looking thing... But when I hit reload attempting to get a new still, I lost that shot in favor of a blurry picture of a driving wheel. Oh well, looks like there's still some bugs to be worked out over at Tornadovideos.net...

It's amazing that this cell is even producing at all... Conditions appear pretty marginal where it's at: very low CAPE, fifty-ish dewps... But it did look pretty good on radar, for a while.

lol..I couldn't agree more! When I was checking out all that earlier, I just thought it would be a good rain and hail maker.

I saw that funnel looking thing too. Not sure if that's what all the LE and news was calling the tornado???

Just got done spotting in Harvey county. Saw a little rotation around the Hesston/Moundridge area but nothing developed from it. Getting a snack, charging the laptop battery, and then heading back out west to track what's developing in Reno County heading back our way. Will update later.

Chris Rice has something interesting on his cam. It looks like before they were trained on the RFD gust front, but now that he's looking at the meso, looks pretty good.

I'm using this one to refine some of my skills...sorry mods if this isn't the right forum for this, please move it if it's not! I'm pretty surprised that these managed to stay as discrete as they have. I'm leaning towards the reasons why are the relatively low moisture content preventing more cells from popping up and merging, and the 30kt bulk shear keeping them more or less from becoming liner. Am I going the right direction with my thoughts?

Radar trends showing this cell becoming more isolated with a very nasty 70dBz core. Velocity data still shows a decent shear couplet, but currently no TOR issued.

Three of those storms down the line from the original storm of interest seem to be getting into shape now. It will be interesting to see which goes active first but the one coming up on Nashville looks very ripe.

Edit, there it went, supposedly a brief td already happened.
