I noticed something after thunderstorms moved through this morning. I believe a heat burst occured as the storms moved through the Chicago area after 3:30AM. Temperatures had risen well above 70 degrees after the storms had passed through the Arlington Heights area.

Just an interesting thing I've noticed.
Discuss yesterday's events here.

Temperatures are about the same today as they were yesterday. We had quite a few tiny cells move through the area last night. I actually drove through quite an impressive little pea sized hail storm. Small cells kept firing and filling in behind the lead line. I believe we had almost 2" of rain after it was all said and done. They were also very electric. The strike chart was a whiteout in the Quad Cities. I managed to squeeze this one off in between the downpours.

No heatbursts, but at 11 am on Wednesday the temperature was still in the 36-37 range with Td of about 32. It slowly increased until the warm front passed through and we finally got to experience some Spring in the air. The temperature rocketed to the mid-50's with the Td a degree behind. Temperature maxed at 59 with Td max of 56, around 8 to 9 pm. And lots of electric, little hailers too. We struggle with getting warm fronts active, here, so to have it happening in March is hopefully a good sign for this year.
