Hi everyone! I posted in a different thread and was referred here so thought I would chime in. I am a full time photographer based off of the island of Kauai, Hawaii and have chased as an amateur for about 15 years (I grew up in the midwest). I am looking to do a two week trip to the mainland this year to be fully focused on storm photography. I am a very experienced photographer and have all the gear needed to shoot any situation. I am mostly looking to find like minded people with different skill sets who can either meet up or who already have plans that I can come to you. I would really like to find a good meteorologist at least to chase with for safety reasons because I don't trust my knowledge nearly enough for that responsibility. I can basically travel anywhere in the country at any given time since I do it for a living. I do currently have a trip planned to the mainland for the third week in May and would gladly piggy back the three weeks together to avoid a second airfare all the way back to the islands. I like to play the odds. I know by doing so that I will lose out on some opportunities but like to try to play the best hand.I am not one who likes to chase every cloud. I like to increase my odds and wait until the end of April every spring when things start to pick up.This is when I pick up too. With that said I am interested and always would like to hear from people who are looking for LOCAL chase partners who would like to get together, pitch in for gas for the opportunity to learn and photograph the mesocyclone up close. I chase regularly out of College Station in SE Texas. I don't always go alone, but at least 2/3rds of my outings are solo. I always welcome a partner or more and I am happy to do the driving (although I'm not married to the wheel by any means). I have been chasing for many years, I am a graduate student in atmospheric sciences and although severe weather forecasting is far from my specialty I feel confident in my abilities.
