• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

2015 Southwest Monsoon

Craptastic along the Front Range indeed. I guess all those storms and rain in the first half of the Summer was our chance. I'm actually ready for Fall at this rate. Sick of the dry heat and smoky skies.

Seems like the season hit a wall the last week or so. Very few storms, and those that did go up weren't all too impressive.
With that said though, it looks like a nice transitional event setting up for northern arizona...also probably going to be the last chase this season

Gotta get thay day off

Definitely think I learned a lesson in second guessing your forecast.

I figured with the moisture leaving the north by early to mid afternoon, still 1500 CAPE around phoenix and a pocket of moisture around 5 plus the edge of the vort max due by that time, somewhere around phoenix would have been great by that time

I started heading up by early afternoon to sit in Wickenburg and wait and readjust from there, got distracted by towers and cells going up to my south and decided to play those with no luck at all. The further north I went, the less cumulus were around

Wouldn't you know by 5, just north of phoenix, and just south of it went up pretty hard

Jeremy, it was great running into you and finally meeting up the other day!
How did your day work out?

@Kevin Rimcoski
Same here, Kevin! I didn't wind up on any of the storms I was hoping for on Tuesday. I tried to make the best of it, exploring and photographing in spots I haven't traveled before.

And a pretty nice sunset and gust front west of Wickenburg.

Tucson has enjoyed a few active nights over the last week or so.

I've been pushing the aperture in search of more 'wow' effect, with occasionally successful, occasionally blown-to-heck results.

This was right on the edge, f/4 at ISO 100 and reasonably close to the action. I usually don't go for outright blown-away areas, but here, where the rain shafts coincide with the blown highlights, I think it looks kinda cool. I only wish I'd guessed a few degrees further to the left....

A few nights later, also shot as wide as I dared.
The 'Wow' is offset by a loss of subtle details. I'm not sure I really like this look, but I'm having fun playing with the idea, and that's what counts!

Wow, indeed! Your last shot in my view is one of the most spectacular lightning photos I've ever seen. A real award winner. Congratulations to you on your capture!!
