I targeted Hillsboro as my staging point, and just as I got there, the cell northeast of Lampasas showed promise, so I booked it down that way through Crawford for intercept, but was about 20 minutes/miles too late/faroff as it produced near Gatesville, TX. I knew it would be a matter of get there, tickle the dragon, and instantly turn and hightail it back towards Waco because it was at that point the south MCS system merged with the north QLCS system and from that point it was just a matter of how lucky one was as I proceeded east and north trying to stay ahead of the line and near gaps that might present. Waco was flooded pretty bad and lost some valuable time trying to navigate that mess.
Was on the Kirvin cell (just to the south at Kirven) but never could see any tornadic structure for all the rain. Then the road network kind of didn't cooperate. Followed as best I could to the south of the rotation area but never any luck. But, I did see a lot of rain ... again.
I had opted to abandon the game at Athens but it did produce at Henderson a while later.
I grabbed some radar screens and a few pics west of Crawford but that was it. Not even worth posting. And no clearing behind the system so there was no decent photo ops after the chase, either.
