I'm still on a medium-term business trip in West Virginia, so I made another 1,000 mile round trip back home to St. Louis to be there for our next round of fall severe weather on Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday, a strong burst of outflow from early storms in Missouri ended any real tornado threat by undercutting new storms going up in Illinois. Otherwise, this briefly potent supercell at Mascoutah, IL might have had a chance had it not been elevated above the cool outflow:
