Decided to make the short trip out to the Texas panhandle and see what this fall system would bring (mostly out of plain ol' storm withdrawal). Had realistic expectations as shear and cape were marginal but just intriguing enough to get me out on a free Friday. Sat along hwy 335 NW of Amarillo letting storms mature (and watching some hilarious goats eating leaves from a brush dumping ground). Moved NE of town as a maturing cell neared and got some really neat views with the Asarco refinery and Nichols power station in foreground. This storm just couldn't make up its mind whether it wanted to get spun up, or go outflow dominant. There was ragged rising scud on the right flank that often exhibited nice rising motion and some slight rotation (actually kinda reminded me of the May 21, 2012 Vega TX scudnado). Followed the storm up to Borger, where the road network just didn't cooperate and it got away as it was moving at 45 MPH.

Threw together this chase video in homage to Breaking Bad ending tonight. Can't believe this excellent show coming to a close.

I ventured out with Brady Kendrick from Norman around 1:30. We coasted to and gassed up in Groom and shifted a bit east to watch the cell come out of the canyons. It looks like a lack of an appreciable EML may have killed this day's potential, there were rainshafts and junk all over creation ahead of this thing. Still we got some decent photos of the storm after it's first gusting out as well as when it ramped back up and temporarily got some decent rising motion on the right edge like Stephen said.

We then shifted further east and caught some awesome photos of the now-bowing line of grunge just west of Alanreed as the storms came off the Caprock.
