Cold-core setup chase - Tornado watch was issued for the Kansas City Metro area around 11 am, quickly followed by the first tornado warnings to my west and south. These mini-sups were difficult to chase due to a northward track (where I was situated, I had better east-west road options) and the pulse-like nature they were exhibiting. First storm I intercepted passed through the eastern suburbs of KC (Blue Springs/Independence, MO), where I was able to capture a decent lowering that had slow, sustained rotation. No reports of touchdowns/damage from this cell.
Continued east to just north of Oak Grove, MO to intercept another tornado-warned cell moving up from the south. The wall cloud was not as well-defined, however the rotation was better pronounced with this cell than the previous one.
This storm quickly lost it's supercellular characteristics, and not able to continue the chase eastward due to a late-afternoon comittment, I called it a day. Neither cell I was on had reports of confirmed touchdowns/damage, but it was turned out to be a decent day in my backyard.
