Classic supercell with excellent Z presentation and strong/deep V couplet approaching Raleigh, NC from the southwest.

...and add "tornado emergency" wording in the tornado warning for the Raleigh metro.

Great velocity representation on KRAX...120 kts G2G on the 1918Z scan with a ball of reflectivity that could be a debris ball given the proximity of the feature to the site.

That's why it makes sense that the feature could indeed be a debris ball.

Wow, there's enough detail at this range. You can almost see that the tornado appears fallen behind the RFD/inflow occlusion point as of the 1927Z scan.

Big reflectivity ball and center of G2G shear right on top of Holly Springs. Wouldn't be at all surprised if that town got hit.

It was reported that NWS office staff is taking cover now. Very bad situation for Raleigh, NC. I couldn't chase today due to family obs :(

Tornado passed over downtown Raleigh just now - east edge of condensation visible on camera with power flashes - heavily rain wrapped. Chasers Bill Coyle and Jesse Bass are at 440 and Capitol Blvd

(post moved from FCST thread)

It appears Raleigh may have just taken a direct hit from a strong or possibly violent tornado - l hope people heeded the warning and took shelter.
