2010 Tornado Predictions

Palm Sunday - Easter

I'm going with the usual seasonal storm predictor - Palm Sunday and Easter.
In years past, severe weather outbreaks have occurred during these holidays. Even though both days are one week earlier than normal this year, it does not mean severe tornado outbreaks will be latter.

Thus my predictions:

March 28 - Texas to Oklahoma (Palm Sunday)

April 2 - Colorado to Kansas (Good Friday)

April 4 - Texas to Arkansas (Easter)

April 16 - Texas Panhandle, western Oklahoma and southwest Kansas.

June 13 - Nebraska

May 12 - Oklahoma and southern Kansas.

The first two are just random guesses, but the last one is during finals week, so something is bound to happen! :)

ok. St. Patrick's Day outbreak of 2010 in W. Oklahoma and W. Texas! (March 17th)

May 3-4 Central KS, NE OK, and W. Missouri

June 7th Eastern Nebraska, South Dakota and Nw Iowa

June 4th - W Iowa

April 29-30 - Kansas/MO. It's Arbor Day, and mother nature seems to have a sense of irony, so I predict many trees will be downed.

May 13th - Central Oklahoma. As someone else mentioned, something always happens during finals week, and 13 is just an unlucky number.

March 30....F4 tornado within 20 miles of Wichita Falls, Texas

April 29.....F4 tornado within 20 miles of Tulsa, Oklahoma (strongest tornado of a larger outbreak in NE OK and SE KS

May 15.....F4 tornado within 20 miles of Mayetta, KS

Seeing some W Iowa/NW Iowa/SD predictions... would take that, this area has been rather boring for a while. Throw in Southern Minnesota while we're at it. (that area along with N Central Iowa is fine chaser terrain)

Meaningless predictions? Ok. Lets give East of the Mississippi some love.

E Illinois W Indiana, April 27th...

Eastern Iowa, June 5th.

General time frame? Last two weeks of April in the Southern Plains.

I adore this kinda speculation :D
To me:

May 4th Oklahoma-Kansas Outbreak

May 8 Oklahoma tornadoes

May 9 Tx dry line tornadic supercells

June 6-8 Northern Plains Outbreaks.

IMO you have to work backwards on these deals and remember Murphy's Law is key. If there is one consistent rule of chasing / forecasting it is that when I have an obligation that is when the big outbreak will be. So, keeping that in mind so far:

March 20 - Ft Worth / North Texas. On this date I have entered a beer brewoff in Ft Worth and was planning to attend. So, naturally it will attempt to screw with me. To make matters worse I anticipate it will also try and 'shove it in my face' by actually putting the outbreak near where I am going making it doubly hard to decide what to do. Expect at least an EF3 tornado. Will I chase it anyway, or go with the brewoff? I'll never tell. Can't let Ma Nature know my hand.

Second would likely be Easter weekend Sun April 4th. I often have to visit the folks then - so out of town with the fam. I place the outbreak in the OKC region- perhaps sw of there.

Third- Mother's Day Sunday May 9th - OK Panhandle / Eastern TX Panhandle / Extreme western OK and extreme sw KS. Likely a big, strong, outbreak

I got called for Jury Duty on March 24th [which I believe I can get out of since I served in July of 09] so...

March 24th: TX/OK panhandles.
