A surging cold front together with modest surface moisture has created sufficient instability/steep lapse rates for thunderstorms along the I-30 corridor in Ark through Texarkana to just north of Longview. Another line of storms was developing from Jacksonville to Henderson, TX with a third line just NE of Austin. Hail and damaging winds are the main threat from this line of storms.
While surface moisture is only modest in the ArkLaTex region, greater UVV near the warm/cold front intersection will sustain storm growth and activity in region.
Further south where moisture is deeper, storms will be more isolated as region is more capped.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Southern Ark, Northern LA, and Western MS.
