Currently in extreme NE OK we have 3 inches of snow on the ground. This is on top of the almost half inch sleet that fell for about 3 hours before the snow. Here is a clip of the conditions just south of Miami, OK about an hour ago. It looks like things are beginning to taper off some. I think we will receive around 5 inches when all is over with.

Tulsa has reported 14" of snow making it their snowiest day on record and it is still snowing there.

I believe you meant to say OKC. We have 5-8" in Tulsa.

My uncle who lives in Olney Texas says the snow has ended and he has 8" of snow on the ground. He lives just west of the Fortworth area. Just north of his area 9" has been reported and 2.3 inches has been reported in Dallas almost breaking their record of 2.6 inches of snow in a day. Tulsa has reported 14" of snow making it their snowiest day on record and it is still snowing there. Blizzard conditions exist from Texas into Canada.

14" would be the record in Tulsa, but as of 8 pm, the official total was just 4 inches...have heard of 8 inches though on the south side of town. Have not heard of anywhere close to 14" though anywhere in Tulsa.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

Sure looking like a winter wonderland across EC NE, I haven't ventured out of town here yet (probably going to wait until morning) but things here in town have me wondering what it's really like out in the rural areas. I might walk the 2 blocks to the Rd on the edge of town here in a bit, just to check it out. We're just getting started with the snow here, and winds are yet to peak, I've already got 6 foot drifts all over in the yard, I know there has got to be some 10'+ drifts outside of town here, our ditches are still full from the last storm, anxious to venture out and check things out in the morning...

Reporting from Eau Claire, WI. Not as exciting here as further into the southern plains, as the warm air surging northward has kept temps a few degrees above freezing. Had about 3" of snow last night. Mostly light rain today, then changing back and forth from wet snow to rain. Only about 2" of snowfall so far today, much less than the 8-14" storm total that MPX predicted for west-central WI. Can't fault them though. Hoping temps stay above freezing tomorrow morning as I will be traveling to MSN via I-94. Merry Christmas

Here's a little drift pic. It really doesn't look too impressive until you consider my front doors are 9ft tall...
I have drifts in the backyard that are 2' away from the top of a 6' fence. That's impressive looking. Pics tomorrow.

About an inch of snow here in Burleson, TX; DFW airport set a record, with three inches of the white stuff. Some areas west and northwest of here got upwards of 8 inches! Got the White Christmas I wanted, so I'm happy: first one in 26 years. Been long overdue.

That inch of snow was in the front yard. In the backyard, there's two inches of snow. So: does that mean we got three inches of snow?!? LOL Front porch, though, a sheet of solid ice. This is going to be fun. Canes and crutches (in the case of my twin sis) and ice equals painnnnn if we fall. *ouch*

Well I'm not going anywhere today.

Scooping this lump out from behind the cars with a shovel....eh, don't think so. It's bad enough how much snow is there, but what is worse is it's just going to blow back in as you are shoveling. And the storm is likely far from over, with 12z nam showing over 1/2 inch of liquid to get through at high snow ratios. Thinking right here might be very near the pivot point of the band that will continue to rotate around. It keeps flinging snow back over here over and over. Not heavy, but light to moderate and constant for a long duration. Guessing 6-8 or so has been added to the 8 that had been on the ground with probably another 6-8 to go.

Took a silly stroll up town on foot looking for an open gas station but didn't find one. Only place to walk is down the middle of the empty streets.

I'm a little late posting this as I was out 15 hours straight covering the beginnings of the blizzard event in west Texas for the news. I stayed out from about 6pm on the 23rd until about 10 am I think on the 24th. Talk about cold and exhausted! I ended up sleeping off most of the rest of Christmas Eve!

Here is some video of the beginning of the event out in West Texas as things changed over from rain to snow to blizzard during the night.

This was only our 14th White Christmas Eve and only the 5th White Christmas since records have been kept in 1911!

The main impact for the storm here was what I was hoping for. Ice. Ice events aren't all that common around here especially being so close to the "warm" lake. This was one of the better accumulations I can recall seeing around here. Here are some daylight pictures from xmas eve. Temps rose above freezing and we experienced moderate to heavy rain which completely erased the ice and snowpack in 24hrs.

No this is not photoshopped. I live 2 blocks away from Midway Airport and the planes really do fly that low over my neighborhood. I had to scramble to get it in the shot.

Switching back and forth between very heavy snow and rain right now but should turn to all snow sometime this afternoon. It's been mostly heavy snow but periodically will change to rain for a few minutes. This is gotta be some of the heaviest/wettest snow I've ever seen. Branches of the pine trees are sagging under all the weight. Wind is picking up a bit too but not much blowing due to the extremely wet nature of the snow. About 10-11 inches so far, a couple more inches before it ends tonight.

Just a quick question for the Okies that got dumped on-How long did it snow for? Seems like the 10-14 inches fell in about 6 hours.

Well , we got around 6" of snow . Walked today to the National Park here in Sulphur ( 5 miles / 2 hour's ) , it was breath takeing .
The first one is from 5:00 pm last night . The second and third is from CNRA . Sorry about pic size , the third one is a small waterfall.
