11/21/06 REPORTS: Washington & Oregon Coast

Billy Griffin

Very interesting day, weather-wise, across western Washington and Oregon today. While at work, I thought my ears were playing tricks on me when I heard thunder! Sure enough, visual check and online data confirmed a squall line crossing over the Seattle-Tacoma area around 2pm PST.

Moments later, pea-sized hail began to fall and CG was very intense for a brief period. Unfortunately, too much rain and too quick moving a storm to have enough time to capture any photos/video. During the commute home, more small (but intense) hail began to fall and had most of I-5 and SR 167 at a stand-still for over an hour!

More intense storms are expected through the night, so the camera is ready to capture my first lightning photos in the great Pacific Northwest!
