• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

10/9-10/13 Winter Storm: Plains, Midwest, Northeast

The GFS has been consistently advertising a notable far-reaching winter storm event between Friday the 9th and Tuesday the 13th, stretching from the western High Plains (Coloroado, Wyoming), through the central Plains (Nebraska and Kansas, including the TX/OK Panhandles), then into the midwest (Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri) and finally the northeast (primarily the northern Appalachians).

I have been following this system since Sunday night. The GFS for Monday is showing a lot colder temperatures than yesterdays GFS. We might have chances to see snow flurries at night. Here in 40 miles east of Wichita. Still around 120 hours out I think but looking good.

Ive been watching it, but i wouldn't call it a snowstorm for the plains just yet. The precip from this system is fairly light and not to mention the surface temps are too high for anything to really acculumate.

When I meant It was looking good I meant that the cold was looking good. Not necessarily the snow chances. I haven't looked at the models in a while though.

Should only get a bit of freezing drizzle and rain Saturday night/sunday morning here in Amarillo but we will shatter our low temp record. Record is 33 and we are forecast for mid 20's. A bit early for our 1st freeze and 1st winter precip but not unheard of. Limited moisture should keep us from getting any snow accumulations.

NWS upgraded 6 counties in Western Nebraska to Winter Storm Warnings until 10am CDT, anywhere from 6-8 inches is possible with higher amounts possible. Im wondering if they will extend the Winter Weather Advisories into Central Nebraska.

Started snowing here in Lincoln around 2:15am, no real accumulations as of yet, even on the grass, but it has started to make the roads wet and stick to the cars and rooftops. Nice way to start off the Winter season.

Update: Northside of Lincoln, up to half an inch. Looks like we are gonna catch a break before a second band near Kearney moves in.

Getting reports from the news of 5-6 inches in western Douglas and Washington Counties in Eastern Nebraska. Anyone know what the record is for the earliest snowfall in Omaha?

September 29th is the earilest measurable snow.

October 9th is the earilest over an inch.

Sorry i don't know the years.

This has to be some record breaker for Omaha, first 1" accumulation was October 9, 1970. I've got 3.5" in west Omaha, betting Eppley will have at least that.

They have been saying there are reports of up to 5" around Fremont and west to Columbus.

Lincoln, we barely got included. around 2" on the northside near the airport.

i measured 6" of snow here in NW Omaha!! all of it is on the grassy surfaces, the roads are just wet, otherwise it would have been a huge mess. they were forecasting only 1/2"-1" of snow too! snow began around 2 last night and was done between 9-10 am this morning.

I measured 6.5 inches in Ft. Calhoun a bit ago, which had surely compacted some. It's pretty strange out as really trees not only have leaves, but really they haven't even changed yet. Just the cottonwoods that mostly are falling off and some Maple trees have turned yellow. Tough to find any good areas with many Maples, damn it. It's cool when you do though, any breeze and it starts raining leaves which looks cool with the snow around and those colors. There was one strange tree with huge leaves, green, and some stringy things on it too. Not sure what it was but you could sneeze on that tree and those monster leaves would fall off. Slightly a shock to wake up at 6 a.m. for this, not expecting much and see it snowing moderately and everything already covered in snow, including the streets/pavement.
