MD out in East Kansas and storm initiation a couple hours off. Convective temps are beginning to be reached in various areas across the region with clouds thinning and heating getting stronger. Post your Nowcasts here...

As CU field persists in east KS/west MO, a secondary line is now noted along the CF/DL in eastern Nebraska in area of convergence, down to around Concordia, Kansas. SRH in the area ahead of the CF remains minimal, at around 200. The area ahead of the CF is quite questionable. Will need significant lift mechanism to overcome capping ... starting to believe that the CF line is beginning to develop to the northwest and will likely become sqaullish. Any storms that develop should additionally be moving quickly to the northeast. Surface TDs in SE Nebraska and NW Missouri have reached 66 degrees, with a 80/66 split.

Skew-T out of Omaha:

* NOW (nowcast) is only for discussion of storm character after convective initiation has occurred.

I guess we can relax now since surface-based storms have now fired just east of OMA. Red box also out - so SPC staying on top of the trends. Cells are screaming NE - Better have a ride like Mike H.'s if you wanna keep up today.

Mods: How about two NOW's for this event since we're talking about two very distant locations and different setups?
