Thought I'd post it here as I found it rather well-buried on Youtube. Someone went through the trouble of putting a good hour and a half of live coverage (from NHK) of the 2011 tsunami online, starting 45 seconds before the first warnings of the earthquake. One of the interesting things is that the warning is shown on the screen a good 30 seconds before the shaking starts -- Japan obviously has a very good earthquake detection and warning system.

Here are the videos; there are 10 of them, each starting where the last left off. Note that these are all in 1080p HD and are worth watching at that resolution if your rig can handle it. Also, while it's far from perfect, this is one of those times when Google's caption service is very useful. If you turn it on, then turn the translation on and set it to English, you get a caption that give a gist of what they're saying.

Video 6 is probably one of the most mind-boggling pieces of documentary journalism I have ever seen.

The first video is embedded; there are links to the rest (due to forum limitations).
