WOW! That is one hell of a velocity signature on the storm with the reported tornado over Poplar Grove, IL (Boone County).

I cannot find any streaming video from the local Chicagoland stations.

EDIT: Thanks for the info on the situation in Versailles, Buddy; good to know they're taking full precautions -- even in January.
EDIT2: LSR out of LOT confirming a tornado touchdown.

Nice little storm with weak 3dc shear in Delaware county OK. I think this will be the next wave to come through.

Regarding the Northern IL/South WI storm, check this warning message out!!!

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WITH STRONG ROTATION. THIS TORNADO WAS LOCATED 8
MILES SOUTHWEST OF FONTANA-ON-GENEVA LAKE...OR ABOUT NEAR HARVARD...
MOVING NORTHEAST AT 45 MPH.
DOPPLER RADAR INDICATES WINDS OF 100 TO 150 MPH WITHIN THIS

Tornado reported by law enforcement 2SW of Marion MO. "Very low wall cloud, possible funnel" is included in the LSR. Was also a tornado reported east and northeast of California MO 10 min prior to that.

TED, I HAVE BEEN VERY CLOSELY. LOOKIN TO HEAD WEST ON I-44 AROUND 5:30 AND INTERCEPT THAT STORM SOMEWHERE IN LAWRENCE COUNTY. TARGET HOODS AROUND 5:50PM. LOOKS TO SHOW A DEVELOPING HOOK ECHO. (DELAWARE CO, OK)

Yeah, LOT has since confirmed that a tornado was associated with this circulation at the time, and was responsible for blowing over a semi along HWY 14 just north of Harvard. And...7061 Centerville Rd (N of Poplar Grove) is listed in the latest LSR as a location that received wind damage in ass'n with the Boone County tornado.

Also, new tornado watch out for NC and Ern Okla.

EDIT: Spotter-estimated winds of 80mph with those tornado-warned storms along the IL/WI border.

Interesting day. Impressive environment invof that confirmed tornadic storm in southeast WI, which has had impressive cyclonic rotation in low-level velocity scans. RUC mesoanalysis shows a very favorable environment for low-level mesocyclones, with strong low-level SRH (>250j/kg in the lowest 1km) and substantial 0-3km CAPE, allowing to keep storm inflow layers surface-based.

Based on the report locations/wording and some of the statements I've seen, I'd guess that Boone county tornado is a long track.

I take it that the area of Racine, WI is pretty heavily populated....Warning message advises a tornado on the ground in the area! Anybody there right now??!?!

The situation appears to be VERY serious in southern WI, which has only had one January tornado ever, through today.

Plywood flying through the air in Kansasville (sp?), WI (via WISN viewer, who has since moved to his basement).

EDIT: Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept Rep is live on WISN thru that link above.
Reported that several houses have collapsed, with at least one person rescued from the basement of one of them.

Deputies reporting that they have not been able to check out the other collapsed homes yet.

EDIT2: as I recheck the radar data, it appears that the decaying Wheatland circulation was in the area of Sturtevant at 431pm, so its at least plausible that the reports of debris falling may be related to the damage in Wheatland -- some 15 miles away.

TOR WARN FOR N. BARRY COUNTY AND SE NEWTON CO IN SW MO. STORM I WILL BE INTERCEPTING WITHIN THE HOUR. HAS GOLFBALL OR LARGER HAIL AND STRONG ROTATION.

Winds have finally "backed" to about due south, with some stations showing SSe west of ADM. Dewpoints are still holding in the mid 50s while the temps are beginning to fall. With the main energy still out west, there could still be a surprise in southern OK. I continue to wait...
