Whoops, I missed this earlier, but OUN issued an AWU regarding the supercells in western Oklahoma. Classic evolution of two near-to-each other storms described, and it looks like that's exactly what's been occurring.

THIS WARNING DECISION UPDATE CONCERNS THUNDERSTORM TRENDS IN WESTERN
OKLAHOMA.

ROGER MILLS COUNTY STORMS UNDERGOING EVOLUTION. SUPERCELL NORTH OF
SWEETWATER BECOMING DOMINATE AND SEEDING DOWNSTREAM SUPERCELL NEAR
CHEYENNE. EXPECT CHEYENNE STORM TO WEAKEN BUT MAY STILL HAVE
TORNADO THREAT FOR A FEW MINUTES. ALSO EXPECT IT TO UNLOAD LARGE
HAIL CORE WITH STRONG OUTFLOW WINDS. STORM NORTH OF SWEETWATER WILL
STRENGTHEN WITH INCREASING TORNADO THREAT AS WELL AS GIANT HAIL.
APPEARS STRONG ROTATION AREA ON SWEETWATER STORM WILL PASS SOUTH OF
DEMPSEY AND SOUTH OF CHEYENNE.

ANOTHER STORM IN NORTHERN ELLIS HAS SOME LP CHARACTERISTICS
INCLUDING SMALL AREA OF MODERATE RORTATION. WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR
THIS STORM.

KOCO has spoken with a spokesperson for Roger Mills County, and they're still working on trying to confirm if/where the tornado actually did touchdown. The low-level shear is still marginal in that area, but it looks to be tracking toward a bit better environment in the Dewey/Major County area.

Multiple vortex tornado near Strong City, headed toward Hammon. KFOR tracker is reporting 40mph inflow -- impressive live video on Channel Four if you're in OKC. Not condensed all the way to the ground, but there's a nasty wall cloud above the ground swirl.

EDIT: The Wrn OK storm definitely appears to have turned toward the right, Custer County, to the N of I-40 is going to be slammed by large hail.

Reports of a "large, strong, multiple-vortex wedge" 4 miles W of Jennings KS about twenty minutes ago, per spotternet.

Hehe... I just felt really embarassed for Mike over @ KFOR. His chopper pilot got to the storm and claimed he was reporting a tornado on the ground. Took his picture live and right when I saw it... I thought "wow this is defintel smoke, not a tornado".


So after a few seconds Mike realized it was just a fire... lol I feel bad for Mike - bt thats what this is all about! Split second decisions.


So tornado not on the ground in Custer county OK.

I laugh at that only because I've done the same thing (with a chaser whose eyes I trust well more than my own, no less). Several CGs ignited grass fires...smoke was ingested into the updraft, and looked as though we were watching a landspout show unfold!

Looks like Ilya's attention to California is paying off too. 2 Tor warns in the San Diego area...slightly OT for this thread, but, only slightly.

They worded that very weirdly. They say WATCH, but I think they may WARNING. But that's ridiculous to have a tornado WARNING for an hour.

And it is a confirmed tornado on the warning. There is a picture of it on the ABC7 website.

WHen I look @ the Oklahoma storm. I see two cells stacked on top of each other.

The northern one with a circlation SW of Putnam.


The southern storm moving more East with a circulation east of Butler.


We may see both of these split up more down the road.
