04/08/08 NOW TX

I need to slap myself for this one. That storm is 15 miles N of my house and I was not even paying attention to the weather until just now. Spotters are reporting a wall cloud on this thing but have not reported a Tornado yet.

The storms firing up west of the storm producing the current tornado warning seem to have nice rotation as well. Hopefully the folks in Gatesville are taking shelter.

This was spitting out some tennis balls near Gatesville as it went by there. Couplet had g/g shear nearing 100kts.. may have been closer to 90 if I interpreted right. Mesoanalysis page on the SPC site has this and two other storms to its west in a pretty decent environment to at least support mesocyclonic development over the next couple of hours.

As of this writing at 2124cdt, the meso had decreased significantly but is still a potent hail producer.

Likely I would have been up in Lampassas earlier, but I've been messing around researching cell phone data plans in stores, etc. I may be too late to do any good with the Lampassas cell now. If that cell to the west of me near Mason comes any closer and shows good rotation I may go inspect it. I'll let you know what I see and can stream video if I have a good data connection. It appears to have a small hook on it currently. Higher level slices show some rotation near the 'hook' that is a bit forward on the storm from normal.
