Interesting exercise. This made me think a little - I have mentally rated my chase days before, but not individual tornadoes.

10 – Evansville, IL F-1, December 23, 1996. Not the 10th most spectacular tornado I have ever seen, but when you get your first chase tornado two days before Christmas, it has to make your list!

9 – Trinidad, CO first EF-1, June 6, 2014. When I first saw this tornado, I was a good 40 miles away, but in the clear air it was easily visible as it churned along for 35 minutes, raising massive amounts of dust.

8 – Hawk Point, MO, April 23, 2010. This tornado, one of three I saw that way, was only a mile or two away and I was able to get great video.

7 – Trinidad, CO second EF-1, June 6, 2014. Both EF-1 tornadoes were spectacular, and they and a brief rope between them could be seen for miles. But I had a closer view of the second EF-1 than of the others, so will place that on the list here.

6 – Dodge City, KS Classic 3 EF-2, May 24, 2016. After being out of position for the latter part of Classic I and all of Classic II, I repositioned and saw the entire life of this tornado that ranged from multi-vortex to wedge to rope and reached a width of one mile.

5 - Greasy Corner, AR, May 25, 2011. Brief but spectacular backlit elephant trunk under powerfully rotating clouds – and I had it to myself!

4 – Chama, NM, September 29, 2014. An unexpected surprise, high-end EF-1; only the second on record in Rio Arriba County, and I got the only video of it. My first NM tornado, first September tornado, and first tornado west of the Continental Divide.

3 – Manchester, IL, August 19, 2009. Saw this tornado from the beginning of its 18-mile track, eventually losing it in the rain after it moved through the edge of Manchester. Think I was the only chaser on it when it formed.

2 – Dodge City, KS Classic 1 EF-3, May 24, 2016. Though some of the latter part of this tornado was partly hidden by rain from my viewpoint, it was still spectacular to watch it form and go through the changes it did.

1 – Rozel, KS, May 18, 2013. My first EF-4, and I followed the entire lifecycle of this spectacular backlit tornado. Like others, I almost bailed south, so glad I did not!

I have seen exactly 10 tornadoes so far in my chasing "career" and my list, when compared to the lists above, isn't impressive. I am positive most people have never heard of half of these tornadoes. I am still a NOOB though. 2017 will only be my 3rd year "seriously" chasing. That being said, I love each tornado, and in a way I am kind of happy some of them aren't well known.

#1 - Coleridge, NE, June 17th, 2014
#2 - Elmer/Tipton, OK, May 16th, 2015 (first Oklahoma tornado)
#3 - Wayne, NE, October 4th, 2013 (first significant tornado and experience with very fresh damage/injuries)
#4 - Holloway, MN, July 5th, 2016
#5 - Hartington, NE, June 17th, 2014
#6 - Northfield, MN, July 14th, 2010 (first ever tornado)
#7 - Beaver Crossing/Cordova, NE, May 11th, 2014
#8 - Osceola, NE, April 27th, 2014
#9 - Lyon County, MN, June 21st, 2013

10. April 13, 1998. My first tornado I had ever experienced. I was 9 years old. F0
9. May 23 1998. Harvester, MO tornado. I had been with friends of my family all day boating on the Miss. River and we came home during the thick of the storms. Hail was present. F0
8. April 23, 2010. Was watching the cells pop up along 70 in Warren County. Saw the tornado. I should have gone up to Lincoln County. I call this the "To the Fire" storm because Bon Jovi's "To the Fire" was playing when I came upon
7. December 31, 2010. When else can you chase a tornado in winter, besides going to MS.? Why, STL of course!
6. Feb. 27, 2011. Night chase. Didn't see the tornado, except when the lightning flashed. Actually scared me a little.
5. April 10, 2001. An oldie but goodie. This was an HP supercell that tracked all the way down 70. Got me wanting to be a chaser.
4. 2002, unknown. Went caving with my scout troop down in Meramec State Park. Tornado formed that night. Made us shelter in place.
3. Sep. 22, 2006. The whole outbreak is one of my favorites.
2. April 24, 2010. I was at the West County Center when this happened. 'Twas nuts.
1. April 22, 2011. Good Friday. My first and only EF4 tornado. I followed the supercells from near their inception point all the way to St. Louis. The damage was just too much. Got some pretty good hail divots from that one.
