I haven't seen as many "notable" tornadoes as some people, so my list will probably be somewhat tame.
#10: March 2 2012 Southern Indiana EF-2. Had a multiple vortex tornado form very close to us and travel east at a high rate of speed destroying several homes northwest of Evansville. Same storms produced an EF-4 about an hour later, which regrettably we missed. Still a memorable chase!
#9: April 22 2011 St Louis, MO EF-4. This is one of the very few tornadoes I've chased through a metro area thankfully. While mostly rainwrapped and near dark for its life cycle, it was still quite an experience, especially seeing the power flashes near the airport and falling debris.
#8: May 30 2004 Western IL. My first ever tornado goes on the list and probably one of my favorite tornado experiences (because it was my first duh!). Tornado developed to our southwest and tracked about a mile south of us, kicking up debris/dust in a cornfield, before being obscured from our point of view and getting severe RFD winds. I didn't have any camera equipment at the time as I was very new to weather/chasing. More memorable tornadoes formed further east that evening in Indiana.
#7: December 23, 2015 Sciota/Roseville, IL. Very nice rope tornado formed with a low topped supercell at sunset 2 days before Christmas. As far as euphoric chases go, this was it for me. I love Christmas and I love chasing, so when the two were within days of each other, I couldn't believe it. Not to mention I was hope for dinner too, only having to drive about 20 minutes back!
#6: October 4, 2013 Climbing Hill/Moville, IA EF-4. Long track violent tornado in Northwest Iowa. While most people saw the Wayne tornado this day, we chased the southern most supercell that produced this monster. The early stages reminded me of the Langley, KS tornado except smaller with horizontal vortices and such. Eventually grew to 1.5 miles wide. Quite a chase!
#5: April 28, 2014 Tupelo, MS. Strong/violent tornado impacts the city of Tupelo, MS. We had perfect position on this storm, watching it approach our position and then eventually move into the city where we shot photos/video of it before bailing south. The motion and sound on this tornado were quite impressive as well.
#4: June 22, 2015 Edgington, IL. Strong tornado that we paralleled for about 15 minutes before letting it cross yards in front of us just east of town. The main tornado barely scraped the south side of town. Saw one vortex east of town that barely missed a farm house, destroying a nearby barn. Lucky day for them. Made it home in time for dinner!
#3: July 16, 2015 Kirkwood, IL. Surprise chase day along the warm front in West Central IL. Intense multiple vortex tornado outside of Monmouth, IL. Probably the best multi-vortex tornado i've seen to date, reminded me of El Reno except smaller. I didn't see any other chasers this day either! Documented several other tornadoes as well with this storm, and made it back home for dinner!
#2: June 16, 2014 Pilger, Nebraska Tornado A. This was the "main" tornado that impacted the town of Pilger, Nebraska during the afternoon of 6/16/14. I've never seen a meaner, darker, most ominous looking tornado to date (see my avatar). We watched it impact town and then pass about 1/4-1/2 mile to our east throwing massive amounts of debris in the air. The motion was also some of the most violent I've seen as well with horizontal vortices extending off the sides of the main tornado.
#1: June 16, 2014 Pilger, Nebraska Tornado B. This was the eastern tornado outside of the Pilger/Wisner area. It quickly picked up strength as the western tornado impacted town and moved northward. We watched this tornado pass close by as well and in my opinion, the motion was even more violent than that of its western twin. Like a giant blender grinding across the country-side. Huge, clear of rain, loud roar, and horizontal vortices extending out from the tornado to the base of the storm at times. Thank goodness this hit no population areas, or the damage would have been incredible I believe. The single most impressive tornado I've seen to date.
#1 (2): May 16, 2015 Elmer, Oklahoma. I wanted to include this one as well, it was also a very very impressive tornado that I viewed from close range. Tornado varied from a wedge to a violent stovepipe/barrel as it passed just south of Elmer and in front of us by about 1/8 of a mile. No doubt if it would have impacted the town, the damage could have been quite severe.
Elmer, OK Tornado. I don't think I've posted this anywhere, so figured it would be a good place to put it lol.
There are a few others in there that I probably could have included, but this is just off the top of my head!
