WxWorx new receiver style?

I have the older receiver style WxWorx set-up. I see on their website the receiver has changed to a black box. What are the advantages of the new style and why did it change? Is the new one more reliable and more durable?

The new box is powered via the usb cable alone and the antenna port is differerent (screw thread). I had a few probs with the cig socket power last year and this now eliminates that. The box seems a lot more durable than the old one. I had to load the new mapping software CD as the old software did not work but it worked fine with no downers for me last week. More polished unit than the old one.
