To the Moderators... if I started this in the wrong place please move it

I am looking for information on the window laminant that makes your window stronger and shatter proof.

Do they make the window more hail proof for chasing because I am tired of backing off a storm because of hail. I lost all my windows about 7 years ago and been a bit gun shy since I paid almost $1700. I guess I was looking to see if other chasers use the protective sheat and how well it was working. I am thinking about getting it for my Explorer

Thank you

james

should go into equipment area I think, but anyway:

Check out Verne Carlson's post on the Rhino and his personal website (google it if you don't find it here). It's not a "how to" but you'll get the idea.

It is always going to be a DIY project unless you are flushed with cash and can pay someone else to do it for you.

$1700...wow...that's about the cost for an old Explorer complete.

Most of it is DIY hail guards. Unless you want to replace your windows with Lexan-which could cost a pretty penny. Iv'e seen hailguards made from netting stretched tight to grating/gate material, to Lexan. I have a Lexan one to cover my sunroof, which is held on by 4- 100lb pull force magnets. I've spent about $130 total on it, so it wasn't cheap, but it should save the expensive sunroof from breaking.
