• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Where to look for used DSLR camera bodies?

I'm wanting to pick up either a Canon 20d or the Rebel XTi, I'm not real sure which one yet, but I'm wanting to get a used one so that I can get a better lens. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look for used camera bodies? Is eBay a good place to find one? Quite frankly I'm a little worried about buying a used one online for obvious reasons.

KEH.com is very reputable. They check everything before selling, and offer a solid 60 day warranty. Their rating system is quite conservative - even the BGN stuff looks more than decent.

I've purchased several pieces of my Bronica 6x6 system from them; everything has arrived in great condition and performed flawlessly. (I inspect high-end optics for a living and am pretty picky about these things!)

Of course, all this service costs you a bit more, but IMO it's more than worth it.

Thanks for the replies, but I went ahead and bought a new XTi and Sigma 17-70 lens from B&H. It should be here by mid next week and I can begin the testing phase. :)

YMMV, but I'm very leery of buying two things USED: digital cameras and laptops. It would have to be a very significant savings, and an examination of other factors that might get me to take a chance on a camera.

That being said, I expect to see a major spike in the used Canon DSLR market over coming weeks as people take delivery of the new XSi and sell their old bodies to help pay for the purchases. In particular, I think we'll see a lot of the original model 300Ds and XT (350D) coming on the market.

Yeah, I feel the same way, so I decided to just buy both new. They should be here Wednesday. There was no way I was going to buy a used lens, but I was considering going used with the camera body. Ultimately though I was just afraid something would be screwed up if I bought used from online.
