Whatever happen to this project, I found this searching the net:

To build a remotely-piloted aircraft , The plane will fly around beneath supercells, inside the curtains of precipitation that give rise to the familiar "hook echo" on radar, to gather atmospheric data that will be used in the study of tornadoes.

I have a poster for something like this in my room — five years ago, it was something proposed to be flown into tropical cyclones and severe thunderstorms for research purposes. It’s called “Atmospheric Voyager,â€￾ and I’ve heard no word on that either.
