Hello everybody,

I just wanted to drop a note that today we, at long last, released the second version of WeatherStudio:

http://weatherstudio.paulmarv.com/

There are many new features and layers, most notably the support of GPS, placefiles, a full automation system (FTP Uploading, etc.), and best of all, a completely new model data system that visualizes and animates NDFD, GFS, NAM, and RUC data. It's also far more stable (very important). Screenshots here: http://weatherstudio.paulmarv.com/screenshots.html

There's also some information over at the GRLevelxStuff forum here (back from December-much outdated), and here.

I would love to collect feedback from the community so I can make improvements; bug reports and feature suggestions are especially welcomed!

Looks very cool! Does it require (or can it use) a standalone data feed like AllisonHouse to get all of the features? If so which level would it need?

Matt,

Thank you for the kind words; all of the features come out-of-the-box and working without any subscription. However, you can absolutely load your placefiles whether from AH or elsewhere. My AllisonHouse placefiles work great; in fact Tyler's USPLN placefile is what you see in the screenshot for lighting. MichiganWxSystem is also really great. I hope this answers your question!

TORE Warning

Today (as most of you all know), the NWS issued a Tornado Emergency for the cell south of Dallas; I had to share this shot that my friend took which demonstrates WeatherStudio's ability to differentiate between TOR, TORR (not pictured), and TORE varieties of tornado warnings:

WeatherStudio - Now with full RAP/RR model support!

As many around here know, the RUC was decommissioned yesterday and replaced with the new Rapid Refresh model.

Today, WeatherStudio was updated to display all 317 different products of the RAP model, three of which are pictured below:

In addition to gridded form, data can be shown for a given point using the probe feature. I am not sure that there is (yet) any other application out there which lets you fully explore the new RAP grids straight off the NWS servers.

So what's the story with PaulMarv software? Did WeatherStudio go belly up? All sites related to WeatherStudio appear to have been taken down. Just wondering if we can expect any further product support?

We experienced a brief server outage last week; sorry for the inconvenience. We are alive and well - customer support continues and should resume today or tomorrow (we were affected by Sandy).
