Weather channel / stormtrack

Add me to the list of those "gotten" by the joke. I was thinking "and thus begins the end of Stormtrack". Good one!

Right with you. At first I thought that giant sucking sound was ST swirling down the toilet; then I realized it was me getting taken in. What a rube! Major coup for the V-Man.

Here is the content of the April Fools joke for those who missed it. I took it down just now in case I miss the chance to do so tonight and end up causing confusion.

The Stormtrack team is excited to announce that we have agreed to be acquired by The Weather Channel effective May 10, 2011, and this will involve a rebranding of the site. Given the issues of costs and effort to run the site, we decided that this offers the best opportunity to expand our community. Furthermore, sponsorship of the forum by a broadcast media outlet means we can make an even bigger impact on severe weather safety and education.
We understand that this will cause some concern and possibly an exodus among our veteran users, however we are pleased to pass along news that the administrator role will be filled by field reporter Jim Cantore, at least until the onset of hurricane season. This will bring unparalleled perspective and expertise to the board. It is expected that one of his segments during severe weather outbreaks will be in sharing Target Area details with viewers as breaking news develops.
Our corporate contacts at The Weather Channel have promised assurances that there will be no major changes to the board, at least with the following exceptions: the forum will be opened to general public access, and a Storm Stories forum will be provided to tell the stories of those who have endured and survived severe weather, hopefully educating and saving lives. Also, any content posted after May 10, including REPORTS photo and video, are subject to be used in on-air programming.
Under the terms of the sale, my role in Stormtrack will cease on May 10. However I have agreed to help facilitate a smooth transition. We’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of Stormtrack so far and look forward to opening a new chapter for our unique community.

Tim Vasquez
Administrator

That said, I wonder how many times Jim Cantore was congratulated today on the new position.

I started yelling to my wife downstairs about ST being sold to TWC and then I thought about looking for the thread with comments about what everyone was thinking and I realized what had happened. After the hiatus and recent return of our trusty admin I thought maybe he was sick of us belly aching at him and pulled a dastardly deed to level the playing field, but the joke's on us this time I guess! :)

I actually thought about April Fools stuff this morning but forgot about it as the day wore on. I'm glad it isn't true to be honest...

I took it so serious this morning i ventured out to the chase vehicle and started taking all the electronics out, ham, amp, weather station, mounts, etc. I even pulled the license plate and winged it like a frisbee across the yard thinking there is no life without Stormtrack just the way it is.Then I seen the post that it was a joke, should of known...

Man am I a sucker for stuff like this! I was thinking yesterday...."Isn't the first of April a holiday or something???".. cause I don't keep up with dates and days to well. Really ruined my morning for a bit there, lol... then I saw this thread.

Didn't get sucked in, but enjoyed it just the same -- you're GOOD. :) BRAVO!

I didn't get suckered into anything today except one thing. I about crapped when I saw the joke about the day 2 high risk in OK. I totally fell for that one!
