• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hello, all! I am looking for a video camera which gives me the most "bang for my buck." I am curious to know: What do you all use for videography when chasing? What are the pros/cons of that camera? I am looking for a camera which possesses decent zoom, a wide angle lens, long battery life, and durability while out in the elements. The budget is roughly $300. Please feel free to share your opinion. Thanks![emoji3]

Don't get a Sony Cybershot H200. It claims to be a 20MP camera, but wow, what noise. A nice 4MP would beat that thing. Autofocus only, which often screws up. Image stabilization that starts to follow the clouds on timelapse, then realizes it can't stretch that far and snaps back. Just really bad.

A used Canon EOS T5? They go new at $400. With kit lens.

That's what I shoot with digitally. Either stills or 1080. Does real well. You'll then want the 10-22mm lens at like $600 new, ouch, and a longer zoom telephoto, also at $400-600+. But to start out with a fairly serious camera, the T5 would be good. I think all the shots I have in the Media section are shot with the T5.

I'm sure Sony and Nikon have that level of camera, and Canon is really starting to piss me off, so feel free to go with either of those. :)

HDR cx220 is what I have. I have issues with focusing on clouds but I guess that is common in video cameras. It is very good with outdoor lighting. Oh, it also has 20 x optical zoom. I don't think they make any good zooms like that on cell phones.
