Hey Dan, I have used a wide angle/Fisheye lens for my dads old Sony Handy Cam and it just screwed onto the existing filter I had on there. It wasn't the best quality fisheye because in post processing you could see the outer corners of the lens but If you have any of the higher end HD cameras you can buy separate lenses that attach to the body. I have seen tons of footage from snowboard DvD's with true fisheye and wide angle lens that dont show the outer portions of the lens and the quality is way better.
Here is a video of the wide angle/fisheye lens I use - (Video)
I have a 0.7 wide angle lens that screws on to the front of my Canon HV30. Gets the job done as advertised. Loss in light doesn't have a discernable impact on video quality by my standards. I haven't chased a supercell with it yet, but I'm hoping it will help me get the most of one into the frame without having to park 15 miles back.
The light loss isn't usually too bad with these lenses, what you need to look for is distortion. Also, a lot of the tele lenses out there are pure crap, so be very careful when buying these things.
For that price though, it's probably worth a shot if you can spare it. I'd look for lenses from more quality brands though. The old adage "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here
The description says "you don't have nothing to loose." On a more serious note I have heard some people using the cheap eBay finds and having good luck with the wide angle lenses. Never heard any reviews for the telephoto lenses. Only concern would be the distortion around the edge of the shots.
