Well, its here! Just announced by Verizon at an official announcement in New York, Verizon will be carrying the apple iPhone!

5 megapixel camera, HD video... the custom A4 chip.

11:10AM "We're incredibly pleased to give Verizon's customers the choice we've been waiting for. We've designed an iPhone 4 which connects to the CDMA network -- and it has all the features that you'd expect. Like FaceTime. Features like Apple's stunning Retina Display."

Yes.. Its basically the same phone.. In fact, almost exactly the same phone. Just a CDMA version for VZW networks.. Not a new phone, just a better carrier.

Thanks, I thought you meant that as additional specs. Looks like Verizon can work as a hotspot too which comes in handy.

Yeah.. Im anxious to see if that will be an additional charge or not.. On our android devices its an extra 20$/mo.

Also, this is apparently a non exclusive to Verizon contract..

The news is out:

Time to start evaluating in more depth, VZ on the market, especially with the initial aspects of it being a negative impact for Verizon, but later add subscribers and subsidy payments get paid off with months of service payments from those customers.
I wish I could find the old thread where there was a bunch of doubters of this actually happening. Search is just not working well these days (switch over restrictions I guess).

I like that Verizon Wireless is keeping the data unlimited while AT&T dropped their unlimited usage plan.
I like that this iPhone can be used as a local wifi hub.

That would be back in the archives - I think the doubters started back in 2007 when the rumors of "coming soon" just started. In general I think that was a valid doubt if it took 4 years ;)

Nah...it was within the past year. I even went through the entire equipment section looking for the thread, but it might have been discussed in a thread that did not have Verizon or iPhone in the title. I check manually, but couldn't find it.

There was a recent thread about android phones where somehow the conversation turned to the possibility of a Verizon iPhone. I agree with Rob, and not just because I was one of the doubters - the rumors have had substance and have been flying for almost 4 years. No one had any idea if it would be 2 more months, or 2 more years at any given point and Verizon didn't start dropping hints until about a week ago. It's good that it's available on other carriers now, because AT&T is truly horrid, but I still wish iOS was a more open platform.

im conflicted right now. I currently have sprint which is about the most terrible carrier i've ever had...tmobile (my previous carrier is a close 2nd). I'm really wanting to switch to Verizon this weekend, but I don't know if I want to go with the Droid Incredible, or wait another month for the Verizon Apple iPhone 4?

i just know I need to get rid of this sprint, and this awful Samsung Intercept that I have right now.

I was one of the doubters, and recently too. When you've been reading things over the past few years about the iPhone inevitably coming to Verizon to only have another Apple Expo go by with no mention of it at all, it's hard not to doubt right? Anyway, this is good for everyone and I'll be curious to see when an LTE iPhone is announced. Because why buy an iPhone now that can only do 3G and be locked into it for 2 years when an LTE version might be out this summer?
