• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hey folks,

So I have a Sony FDR AX700 handicam. I primarily use this camera to capture zoomed in footage for my YouTube videos which are not weather related. I mainly use the GoPro 8 for all my filming because its small and it is so stable!! But I video venomous snakes and the zoom function allows me to get inches away from a rattlesnake without getting "poop my pants" close enough! ;)

Anyways...

I might locally chase here and there if I get a bug in me to do it.

So for that particular camera, is there a good mount that any of you would recommend to be able to mount inside my vehicle? Preferably to view out the front windshield?

I have the Gripper 115 for the one I had before I sold the AX100 (which is about the same size) and it works perfectly. You can get them online for about 80-100 bucks I believe. They are pretty solid, reliable, and durable. I've had mine for about 8 years and it's still going strong!

Thanks, I'll check this one out :)

The Gripper 115 is the one that I use routinely and it has performed nothing short of superior.

One thing to mention is, if you have the slightest crack in a windshield from hail / debris, the suction cup mount for the Gripper 115 is extremely powerful It will cause a crack to spread to that area nearly instantly as I so recently found out, and once the crack invades the surface space where the mount attaches to the windshield, it will not hold vacuum at all, so be mindful of this.
