I am unable to post or reply in either of the target areas or view user profiles. If this is related to Junior member status what must we do to get beyond that limitation?

Thanks

No rush, but maybe time for a member update

Spring is quickly approaching here in the Mid-Atlantic. Starting around the first of April, DC usually starts getting severe enough storms to start posting forecasts and nowcasts for the region. I would like to be able to do so.

It looks like the last bulk update was done around Mid November. Figured when you had a change, might upgrade the latest batch of "junior members" to the regular statis per your normal standards.

Thank you.

Since we are seeing a lot of people with very few posts requesting more access, I thought this would be a good time to review the new rule that went in to effect in December.

7. Membership levels. Effective December 10, 2007, all new users who register automatically become Junior Members. The Junior Member level is a probationary status that lasts at least a couple of months. Promotions to Regular Member are performed regularly by the Stormtrack staff after we are satisfied that the user has contributed insightful, original weather posts to our public forums (social posts, one-liners, statistics, and reciting forecasts do not count) and have demonstrated adherence to all Stormtrack forum rules. Courtesy promotions are usually given to members of the storm chasing community who our staff already recognizes by name.

The part in the red is the really important part. Staff will review posting history for compliance in that part. Something that can't really be evaluated with only a few posts.

Contributing regularly in a positive way in Weather & Chasing is a great way to get upgraded. This is particularly true when it comes to posting access to the Target Area, which has an even more restricted set up rules.

Went to post some thoughts in a forecast thread and said I wasn't allowed. This explains why. For those introverts out there who just don't talk a lot anyway this seems kind of ridiculous. But it's not my site so I'll just grin and carry on. I didn't think browsing took up a lot of bandwidth but I guess that's not correct.? I guess I need to make a donation to accommodate my use since I frequently browse through the forums.

Thank you! Tis much appreciated. :)

Even if I can't post in certain areas (and don't chat a lot anyway to begin with) I want to contribute because I like the site and use it's resources. :)

I'll likely slowly acquire posts in the other forums but I am just not a very talkative person. No biggie, just want to express my opinion.:)

New member wants to join

How do we vouch for a person? I have a young friend who I met through ham radio. He's very smart about forecast....although still learning a lot, especially about severe weather. I'm giving him some training about being a chaser, and will take him out on some local chases to teach him the ropes. He tells me he tried to sign-up to ST, but hasn't been granted (junior) membership yet. I didn't think there is much of delay on the joining part....but if I wanted to vouch for him, who would I contact specifically?
