Wow - amazing video! In my parents' pool, the nozzles which the heated water enters are angled downwards, and are just under the water line. When operating, there is a fixed vortex just next to each outlet in the water. IMO, it's almost like the jets are acting as some kind of RFD - perhaps in this case a current was doing something similar against the rock.
