‘Twister’ Reboot in the Works at Universal

lol...that's all he had to say: "you can't do it bigger"??? Also, he sounded like he was stroking out when giving that quote.

Also, why is he asking about doing an F5 now? Didn't they do one in the original?

I agree that stepping up the intensity/fear/danger/epicness of the fury of nature may not be the best of ideas for a reboot, but he didn't mention anything about the change in technology that has been discussed here. Shit, we should be the ones writing the screenplay. We can then pass it off to a more seasoned screenwriter to add the artistic touches to shape it into a Hollywood-worthy production.

The evolution of storm chasing has progressed substantially since 1996 and "Storm Chasers." The advent of social media creating sensationalized and often falsified chasing behavior (and individuals) would be an interesting sub-plot if it stays the course. We have seen multiple fatalities and injuries, some resulting from aggressive, irresponsible and unnecessary behavior presented on TV and social media as "normal" chasing. My biggest fear is a script that embraces the lunacy and stunts as "normal" chasing and just adds to flames of stupidity. Lets face it, any new film will encourage more chasing, for better or worse.

Is it because the term 'chaser' has being used most often, instead of the more apt word 'tracker'?
I'd like to think that what we do is collecting data and hunt a storm before the tube actually happens, and then go out tracking it.
Not 'chasing' it with a butterfly net to then putting it in a jar -lulz.

Dude, bigbrain thought here @Warren Faidley - I remember your chase rig, style, and appearance from around that era. They didn't write the treatment for some of Jonas Miller's aura out of nowhere.

Cary Elwes was playing......you.

lol..... no, they wanted scientists / researchers battling each other. The "photographer" angle was planned for the Warner's script, but was dropped when Warner got the distribution deal instead of the production. I was told they wanted a "military" type organization / look for the Jonas crew, and his character was based on a scientist from Norman, although I don't know who.

I would have thought for sure the black Suburban was based on your black Explorer from that time period.

They put all of the imagination for Jonas' fleet into that dually 2500 Suburban. The rest appeared to be Grand Caravans with Code 3 duoflash units and an RV with a DishTV antenna on it.

That Suburban is for sale, BTW.

In case anyone (like me) was still holding out hope that the Twister remake would get made, I dug around a bit to see if anything new came up since Helen Hunt said the remake wasn’t happening. Unfortunately it looks like the remake is still dead. Here’s and old link to an article and interview with Helen Hunt on her difficulties in getting it made.

So maybe some if you here should get that screenplay written! Getting something produced has become less difficult in recent years. Find some aspiring film makers/crew willing to make a film for the experience, exposure and the literal “thrill of the chase”.
