Just a quick photo of tonight's sunset. I guess this is weather-related, since it was a developing storm that made it possible. Wish I could have been somewhere more scenic to photograph it, but had to settle for my position on KC's east side at the time (I'm just thankful to still have my camera :o).

Here it is. (No saturation applied.) Seemed like everyone around me was stopping to watch it unfold.

Mike, saw the same thing, but from a bit farther southeast on my way back from the office as that elevated (11Kft base) cell over NE KS dissipated. Absolutely gorgeous sunset with the orphaned anvil, Accas and virga all back lit hues of orange.

I was hoping someone else around here saw it. It really was something.

By the way - I was screwing around with an HDR image of a tilted upraft from last Thursday's high risk. This is actually the storm that went on to produce the tor-warnings near Jct City. It is over-processed, over-sharpened, over-everythinged, but I still get a kick out of how it turned out ...

Mike I was coming to post mine. :)

This was from John Redmond Reservoir. (Messing with some HDR) I named it ((The Stormship Enterprise)) LOL

Also a bit later with the sunset colors, lightning, blue sky with stars and the top of the cell lit up with the half moon.

And about 1 am as the line of cells came together: A moon setting under lightning. (picture quality not great with slow lens)

And as far as sunsets, I thought the one 3 days earlier was going to be hard to beat:

:D

And speaking of HDR this was the cells near Topeka, (the others above were out WNW)

Didn't plan on doing any sort of chasing on Monday night. Cassi (my daughter) and I were on our way to play some mini golf at "Cool Crest" up St. Joseph, MO, and we caught probably the best isolated supercell sunset of the year. Storms hook was located on radar around Hiawatha, KS, and looked to be moving SE. As soon as I arrived I couldn't help but leave and shoot across the MO river into Elwood, KS, and captured a perfect shot of a wall cloud that formed up and then within 2 minutes was completely gone. What a treat! Cassi and I then continued back to Cool Crest and played a cool 18 holes.

I was going to edit in the wall cloud shot, but my laptop started to scream for mercy when I started editing, and so I will just leave you with the overall cell clip for now. I'm sure everyone here has seen enough wall clouds anyway!

Those are spectacular, Jim - thanks for sharing them!

It's just hard to beat the sky in this part of the country.

Thanks Mike, and yes there are some awesome sunsets to be found here for sure but they seem to be running late this year as the best are after cells blow up in the afternoon and dissipate in the evening leaving the best sunsets.

Now that I am trying HDR it seems they can be shown even better.
