Thoughts/Prayer requests for fellow chaser

Chris, for some reason that picture is too small to read (on my computer, anyway). The one on your Facebook page is better. Is there an address to which donations can be sent?

I'll find out from the person who organized the dinner if there is a specific address to send donations to. If there isn't, we'll have it sent to our address. Thanks

I want to ask people within the chaser community to keep Richard Eastin, my best friend...MIDSCAR team member...and fellow chaser, in your thoughts and prayers. He has been diagnosed with cancer (Sarcoma). Being caught late, it's already at stage 4 which is as bad as it gets. Currently...the main tumor is in his pelvis bone and has destroyed it (as the doctor worded it). The cancer has spread into his lymph nodes, spleen and lungs also. I visited him today, and he's keeping high spirits about this but I'm seeing him drop fast. Doctors said he likely won't make it to the 4th of July. Again...please keep our fellow storm chaser in your thoughts and prayers, and pray for a quick recovery! I will post here as often as possible with updates on his condition. Thanks everyone...

Chris Heater
President of MIDSCAR
That's really a shame. I'm sorry to hear this... No one should have to endure something like that.

I dont know Richard, but he will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers as well. Battling Thyroid Cancer myself right now, fortunately only stage 1. I feel for him, his family and friends. Hang tough, its people caring for their loved ones and friends that sometimes can be the best medicine possible....just by being there....

I will keep Richard in my prayers, as well as add him to the prayer circle at church. If a man can survive a direct hit from an F5 tornado by hiding in a bathtub, another can survive stage 4 sarcoma.

Richard will be in my prayers as well.

My father in law was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer so I am seeing him battle with it first hand. Sorry anyone has to deal with this terrible disease. It sure tests ones faith and strengthens the family structure as we support the ones fighting it.

I missed this thread because at the time I was preoccupied with the April 27 outbreak plus my wife had just come back from a trip to visit her family in England. I just noticed in one of the earlier posts Eric Whitehill offered support, and if you read the post he also had cancer and his prognosis was not good. He has not posted in a few months.

I don't know the guy, but I still can't help but feel kind of bad that most of us missed that. I know it was easy to do, many times on threads like this it's not a discussion I follow but rather I read the op then I just hit reply and leave a message without reading the other messages as I'm sure most others do.

Does anyone know him and how he is doing?

I just checked Eric's FB page and notice he's made posts on FB as recent as Nov. 15th. I know of Eric, never met him and not sure of how he is doing.

Hey Wes and all:

Thanks for checking up on me - I'm doing pretty good now. My last X-ray and tumor marker check in October I had showed no sign of it entering my lungs, and the docs have not seen any evidence of any new metastases in my lungs or lymph nodes. I have another CT/PET scan and tumor marker check coming up in December. Hopefully it will not show any tumors or evidence of a neoplastic process attempting to start.

So, for the meantime, the docs are calling me in remission, but for the type that I have, if it comes back, 85% of the time it comes back first year, and 95% of the time it comes back, it comes back in the first 2 years. I have around a 25 to 30% chance of recurrence, with the most likely targets being the lungs or lymph nodes. The good thing is we are spacing my appointments so close together they should be able to get rid of anything new if it does pop up.
