I want to ask people within the chaser community to keep Richard Eastin, my best friend...MIDSCAR team member...and fellow chaser, in your thoughts and prayers. He has been diagnosed with cancer (Sarcoma). Being caught late, it's already at stage 4 which is as bad as it gets. Currently...the main tumor is in his pelvis bone and has destroyed it (as the doctor worded it). The cancer has spread into his lymph nodes, spleen and lungs also. I visited him today, and he's keeping high spirits about this but I'm seeing him drop fast. Doctors said he likely won't make it to the 4th of July. Again...please keep our fellow storm chaser in your thoughts and prayers, and pray for a quick recovery! I will post here as often as possible with updates on his condition. Thanks everyone...

I will be praying that your friend gets better. My grandfather got cancer from smoking. He was told he had 2-3 months to live. While the smoking did kill him the cancer did not. Thanks to chemo treatments he survived cancer after the dogs thought he would not make it. Anything could happen so tell your friend to hang in there and stay strong.

My thoughts and prayers to your friend and a fellow storm chaser. Believe in miracles and have faith, hopefully a miracle comes to him. My dad's best friend, and a guy who was a very close friend to all of us, was diagnosed with cancer 19 years ago. The cancer was in the late stage, he was given only 3 months to live by multiple doctors. He was on his death bed and we all were preparing for his death. Fast forward to almost 20 years later, our friend passed away just a few months ago after more than 19 years when he was told he only had 3 months to live. The cancer mysteriously went into remission. He regained all of his weight and the hair he lost in chemo came back and he gained his strength back and continued to work until the cancer returned just about a year ago. I can't help but believe that a miracle came to him that kept him alive for more than 19 years when he was on his death bed and given only 3 months to live almost 20 years ago. So have faith and pray for a miracle, I will do that for your friend.

Sending Prayers, already lost 1 member of my family to colon cancer this year. Im sorry for this news. Hope all goes well and miracles will happen.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Our prayers are out to him. I went through pretty much the same thing with a friend of mine from the Air Force, but without the miraculous recovery that Joey's dad's best friend went through, so I know what you are feeling. The Lord's peace be on both you and your friend.

This is Kathryn Piotrowski...Please convey to Richard that Jeff and I will keep him in our prayers. Everyday! Thank you Chris for letting every know. "Richard you will have a bunch of people praying for you, buddy, hang in there!!!"

Hey Chris:

I also was recently diagnosed with cancer and am currently undergoing treatment, so I understand some of the pain and mental anguish he must be going through.

I was also not given an 'excellent' diagnosis from my local oncologist, but they are doing great things at the Mayo clinic - he might want to consult there as well. (My doctor here locally did not give me good odds either, but since I've started treatment at Mayo, my diagnosis has improved greatly.) I'd be happy to put him in touch with my oncologist who might be of some help. (Mine is/was a mixed cell germ with 4 different types of cancer in it, which makes it difficult to treat, as one of the types is radiation resistant, and another is chemo resistant.)

Thanks everyone for responding. Some new news now...

A benefit dinner/silent auction has been organized for Richard Eastin and his family on May 19th at 530pm in Urbana, IL. I know most of you live too far away to attend, but donations for the raffle and generous donations for medical expenses are gladly accepted. All proceeds from the raffle goes to help the family with medical expenses. Richard is unemployed so his medical benefits are very limited, so anything helps! Thanks everyone for your thoughts, prayers and support
