Could it be more blazing in the South right now?! I'm sittin in the NAS JAX weather office, and its 94 degrees at 1 in the afternoon, our high was 95 yesterday. I'm heading home to Murfreesboro,TN tomorrow and it's much much worse. 103 yesterday, hotter yet to come. What is the rest of the forumers takes?

Yep, hot is right. We've got 100s coming this week in Memphis. I just got back to work after meeting the air conditioning repair folks. Last night my darn AC went out. Luckily all is well now, but last night was brutal without AC. Sleeping in a house with an 85 degree temp sucks!!

I'm ready for fall.

Only 91 here right now. However, the dewpoint is 81. That's the highest dewpoint I've seen here so far this summer. Heat index is 108.

Walking outside is like walking into an almost unbreathable wall of oppressiveness.

Yeah, it's pretty warm just about anywhere, not just in the south. 95F/79F here now... expected to hit 100 later this week with dew points still hovering around 80F, give or take a couple. No complaints here though (aside from the fact that I have to wait until about 11 PM to go running), I mean, it IS August. Haven't really had any hot spells yet this summer in the midwest anyway.

its been real hot here in north miss...

we got a heat index report of 110 degrees a few days ago at golden triangle and were lookin at highs in the 100's before you even go to the moisture...and with 70+ Tds...its bad hot...i break out in a sweat if i go outside...

no good news on the drought either...looks like that ridge aint goin nowhere anytime soon...

people say they get depressed in seattle because it rains too much...but im tellin you man...this is messed up...

I got lucky--work has taken me out of Alabama and up to Ocean City, Maryland for the week. It's warm up here, low nineties, but nothing like what Alabama is about to get for the next few days.

Raleigh, NC today, in the shade:

'Eh, what's a 120 degrees heat index? That's almost the temperature at which most folks should move from jeans to shorts and should put away their parkas.

HOT? Stiffling is more like it. We set (tied) the ALL TIME record for the hottest day EVER. It was 104 here in Greenville, SC. It is 1PM on Thursday as I write this, and it's already 101. The record high WAS 98 set in 1980. the "low" tonight is forecast to be 79-81, and the forecast high tomorrow is 103...another record-shattering day. The 101 NOW is not official. The temperature in our pool is 87. The highest it's been all year was 81, until two days ago!

Southern Pines and Harnett County Airport (both just to our south) are reporting 106F.

I am also very miserable in Richmond. Yesterday, it was the hottest in 30 years at 103. Currently it is 99 but the NWS has 106 for South Hill, VA.
I was considering shooting some video for TWC but it is too hot to bother especially with their lack of using video.
