• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Any paper mappers out there? What do you think the best paper maps for chasing are? Preferably something that accurately shows dirt vs. paved, etc., and that have good "resolution" (i.e., show some of the lesser roads, not just highways).

The "roads of" series is awesome but is limited to only a few states like OK, Tx, NM. For other states like Kansas or Nebraska you have the Gazetteers series which are just like the roads of. They show paved, gravel, dirt roads along with railroads, creeks, rivers, bridges etc.. It is pretty accurate and is scaled tight. I have used them for years.

But I think it has been a couple years since they were last updated. Not for sure on that. I really wish they had these on disc so you could use them with GPS. Much more accurate than Delorme and more detailed.

Roads of and Gazetteer as Jay mentioned were the best I had seen and used them exclusively (preferring Roads of first, but using Gazetteer when Roads of wasn't available). I think that is why I liked Delorme when I switched to software because Delorme Street Atlas back in 1998 was very similar to those books (especially the Gazetteer paper maps).

Hands-down, the cheapest place to by the Gazetteer series is on Amazon. Around $11-$13 for each state and free shipping if you buy at least $25 worth. The only catch is you need to check the year it was produced...that will help ensure you're actually getting a fresh copy. If you go to Delorme's website, you can see what the latest year is for each particular state. (FYI, they don't update them every year)

I own one for every state throughout the Great Plains, and I love them.
