A decaying complex of showers and weak thunderstorms moved through Minneapolis, Minnesota very early this morning and provided a nice shelf cloud with the sunrise. A nice little surprise before work today. I don't think I have ever seen a shelf cloud like this that didn't have heavy rain and lightning directly behind it. It kind of felt like an orphan shelf cloud, if that is a thing.
