Went out chasing after a long drought that lasted through November and December which is when most storms can be expected. Fortunately lots of mid-level dry air and reasonable cape. Perhaps not enough flow at 500mb to get strong rotation and tornado's, despite the appearance of a wall cloud. But got lots of hail, especially on my vehicle.

These are very intriguing. South Africa/Zimbabwe trip will happen sometime with a safari, wildlife and hopefully some nice storms. I don't know a lot about climatology but would like to learn.

I haven't thought too terribly much on storm chasing in foreign countries, but the only other major South African tornado I know of is the Duduza/East Rand tornado a number of years back.
