Good day everyone,

The only way to post this was to hut the red "X" stop button on my browser!

Anyone noticed that when ona thread the screen refreshes (web page reloads) like once a second?

I noticed this in the PM area and writing a thread like this.

In many cases, there is no "submit" button either ;-)

I noticed this this morning too - it appears to have been a glitch in the system as everything seems to be functioning normally now. When I tried to log in around 7am this morning, I could get the front page just fine, but the minute I clicked on W&C or EE or whatever it just kept bringing up the banner and blank page and then refreshing and refreshing and refreshing. At least it woke me up.KL

Well - saying that it appears that there are still some bugs, because now I cannot edit my post above. It has some strange HTML in my post when I try and edit it - and I get windows error symbol for the page down in my taskbar when I try and save my edits. This strange HTML is also appearing in the PM'ing function. Looks like we have some bugs flying around.KL

Something changed - Quick Links no longer brings up a vertical DHTML menu. It adds 'nojs=1#usercptools' in the address bar and refreshes the page. The menu then shows up horizontally but doesn't have the Today's Posts link that I use almost every day. Was there an automatic update of some sort? It seems to think javascript should be disabled (nojs=1).

FYI, I just opened it up in Internet Explorer (I normally use Firefox) and it did the super-fast-page-refresh thing until I hit the stop button. The Quick Links link doesn't respond at all - just gives a javascript error.

I notice on my own site once in a while a bad google ad gets in there and won't let the rest of my php based site load. I can usually tell by Firefox showing down at the bottom what it's contacting to load and it's always the google syndicate address. I haven't changed anything on the forum software, although it's due for an upgrade.

If it is a Google ad it's really bad. I haven't been able to get on to ST because of it since about 11.30am. I can't edit posts, and I can't post pictures, either. Like everyone else says - it's seemingly affecting the java/php based aspects of the site. Let's hope Google quits running the ad asap.KL

Maybe it's something locally with your browser Karen. I have been on and off the forums all day and haven't seen a thing, and have noted a lot of people coming and going. If it's still continually affecting you all day, it has to be something of a more "local to you" nature. FYI, I normally run Firefox but just ran through it with IE and couldn't duplicate anything wrong.

Karen,Try clearing your cookies (at least the ones from Stormtrack.org). I've been on ST several times today using FF and IE, and I haven't been able to replicate your problem (and the problems that others seem to be having)... All works fine on my end with FF and IE (and Vista, but that shouldn't matter too much).

Seems the auto refresh removes the submit reply button if you do not press stop in your toolbar. I have had this problem all day. Will try clearing some cookies as I still have the problem.

I can't type paragraphs, and when I used quotations, it would do this " " BTW, this thread is almost at 1,000 hits just for today.........are you guys hitting refresh over and over???! ;)

Still doing it for me and in fact its getting worse. Even the pictures along the right side of the main page ( stormtrack.org ) are corrupted - no google ad there! Cleared cookies, cleared temp files, hard refresh, different computers, different networks (though same ISP, Qwest). Firebug (a debugger for Firefox) lists dozens of javascript errors and none of them are related to google ads. I was going to post several screenshots showing the problems but I can't use the WYSIWYG image insertion stuff - it's all disabled. Here, try these:

http://tornadodreams.com/Image1.png (corrupted images)
http://tornadodreams.com/Image2.png (pairs of down-arrows in the menu bars)
http://tornadodreams.com/Image3.png (the entire thread displayed twice)
http://tornadodreams.com/Image4.png (actually, three times w/corruption)
http://tornadodreams.com/Image5.png (more corruption at the bottom)

Try to double-click that yellow "yield"-looking sign on the lower-left part of Internet Explorer. For example, on the very lower-left part of that second image, there's a yellow yield icon next to "Error on page". IIRC, that icon pops up when there is, typically, a javascript error on the page. I imagine that info may be helpful when trying to figure this out. EDIT: For the first time tonight, things are getting a little goofy for me as well. When I try to edit my post, the special marks (quote marks, apostrophes, etc) are replaced with character codes.
