Subaru Crosstrek / 2011+ Impreza laptop mount

Early this year when I was moving all my gear into a new-to-me Crosstrek for the season I needed a laptop mount in a hurry. So I modified the RAM mount I already had since RAM doesn't make one for the Crosstrek. It fits well and it's been solid all season. Whats the controller for?

I use it with a Python app to control my TurretCam mounted on the roof. Don't have to leave the safety of the cab to pan/tilt/zoom so I leave my tripod at home.
