I don't get it. There's no information about what you're posting, what it would accomplish or how it would help. I really don't have any thoughts since I have no idea what I'm giving thoughts about. If you can elaborate more, and provide details, then I'll provide my thoughts.

You're trying to categorize something that can't be categorized, Calvin. Excitement, whether visual or otherwise, is a subjective experience, different for every person and with every storm.

I agree Bob. Also, the criteria listed can be found in many different combinations beyond the five arbitrary groupings in the proposed rating scale. And there are many other variables that affect the "excitement" of a chase that aren't listed.

I thought this thread was about rating ourselves from best to worst chaser. That's like telling a group of 20 women to rate themselves from prettiest to ugliest haha. I digress, have to agree with Bob and James on this one.

- and appearently not even one of the large trees in the background went down, and windows in buildings and cars did not appear to get broken.
Ratings without precise measurements are nonsens, furthermore even with precise measurements, a larger storm system might be categorized different by different chasers depending on their position in the storm.
I think many of us have seen some chasers who were merely equipped with a video cam shout "Oh, this is definitely EF5!" because a tornado looks large and mean, but what do they know about wind speeds at ground level?
