Skip Talbot, Adam Lucio, Matt Cumberland, and I will be at the Best Buy on 424 Randall Road, South Elgin, IL, 60177 this Sunday, November 15th, 2009. If you are in the Chicagoland area feel free to stop by. We will be talking about severe weather, the technology behind it, and sharing videos and stories from 10 AM to 3 PM. Those of you that decide to stop on by you will also receive a discount on any purchase you make in that Best Buy store. I agreed to do this as I love talking about severe weather and any opportunity is a good opportunity to promote a positive image for storm chasers :D

Looking forward to doing this.

The idea was pitched to me by Matt Cumberland who is a relatively new chaser as well as the manager at this Best Buy. The general idea is to show off stuff like laptops, cameras, GPS units and things that Best Buy sells. The chaser angle/flare is to hopefully attract some visitors to a unique 1 day sale.

Should be a good time!

I will be there about 10am. Maybe a little sooner. See you all in a couple hours.

3963 Miles is a bit too far for me this weekend, but hope you all had a great time, its a good idea and one that could be repeated accross the country/world to get to know chasers in your area, well done....

Thanks to those of you who came out! We had a good turnout and had over a thousand dollars in sales to those that took advantage of the 10% off offer. Special thanks to the Blinebury's from driving all the way up from Indianapolis to see us! To top it off we got an offer to come to a local elementary school. To promote storm preparedness and to talk about the hobby of storm chasing, all in all it was a good day!

Too bad I missed the event, it would have been nice meeting other locally based chasers. Glad it went well for you guys!

If the school is in the NW 'Burbs I'd be tempted to tell them to prepare to be disappointed as just about all severe weather seemingly comes here to die. :D

Forest Park I believe was the town. I can see it now "Meet Real Storm Chasers!!!!!" :first kid raises hand: "Do you drive that metal armored car on TV?" No, we do not. I will tell you what we do, do though! :room empties:

Your'e welcome. Thanks for the invite.
We definately should do this again.

Kudos!

Sounds like a real positive experience, both for you and for the store, with another opportunity in store as a result. No telling how far the ripples will spread. Congratulations, guys!
