Stickers, Magnets, Decals

I know some of you have some sort of decal on your vehicles to show you are a Storm Chaser. Just wondering what you have and where do you buy them. I'd like to get something for my vehicle. Mainly for the cops if they see me on the side of the road or out stopped in a vacant parking lot of a closed business or something. Thoughts on this?

Mainly just a skywarn sticker for me. I also chase for a local tv station so I have their logo on my vehicle as well. A skywarn sticker can be acquired at your local NWS office.

Sign shops can make custom decals or magnets of anything you want. You can put something together the way you want it in Photoshop and just give them the file. I've had a couple sets of magnets done twice at between $240-$270 per set (two large ones for the doors, one for the tailgate). They are pretty durable and don't move at all, but I rarely use them anymore.

That might work against you actually as the cop thinks, "great another yahoo chaser." Seriously, many chase under the radar so they don't draw unnecessary attention to themselves. It is fun to show your pride though. You can just buy stickers from many online sellers or booths at conferences.

Never said that. Doesn't have to be a Skywarn sticker, I didn't even mention it, the other poster did. I have nothing against going to the class. Just haven't had one in my area I could go to. Just thinking a sticker in general.

A sticky piece of plastic isn't going to save you from the police if you are some place you shouldn't be, or doing something you shouldn't be doing...

... and if you haven't been to skywarn classes or are not a part of skywarn, then you probably shouldn't be "promoting" that you are a skywarn participant...

I do run a small magnetic decal on the tailgate and a very small one on the drivers door. I was pulled off on a gravel road just off a state road one night watching a storm. Cop pulled up behind and flipped his lights on. Long story short, thought I was waiting on a "drug deal". Mind changed when he saw my camera gear and laptop sitting on the stand with GR pulled up. Talked weather for a couple minutes then he shagged off. You very rarely see "chasers" or spotters outside of LE or fire/rescue around these parts. By running the decal and obviously looking in the sky, LE has a much easier explanation for why im there....

I'm being mis-understood here apparently...... I'm looking for decals NOT Skywarn stickers or anything related to Skywarn in anyway. Just a Sticker or magnet.....thats all.

I won't be doing anything I shouldn't be doing, but here in NC....there aren't as many storm chasers as there are out west. Around here, alot of times if the cops ride by and you're sitting on the side of the road....they are going to stop and question you. I have no problem with that, just figured if they see a sticker or decal, they'll figure out what I'm doing and not worry with me.

My reasoning for having an interest in a decal of some sort. Just wanting something maybe 4"x6" to go on the rear glass of my vehicle.

But yeah I think stealth is the way to go. No lightbars or decals.

Something like that is what I was thinking. I wouldn't mount anything like a lightbar on my vehicle.. Prob no stickers either, seems they have a bad vibe....lol

I do use some small magnetic storm chaser signs while I chase. I have some others that I have stuck to a metal filing cabinet for decoration. I have purchased various storm chaser, skywarn and HAM magnetic decals from storm chaser Jack Kertzie. He will even customize orders with you call sign. Here is his website.
