spotter classes?

This spring I attended a storm spotter class in Kingfisher, Ok. It was pretty much just the basics, stuff that I already knew so it was kinda blah for me. Does anyone know of any more in depth classes in Oklahoma that I can take or something of the like?

The NWS classes do seem to show the same things each year. The Tessa conference each March also has spotter training, but it too can be similar to the NWS stuff. I am not sure if there is some "advanced" class outside of these things.

I'd suggest taking the online Spotter Network training, it's pretty good. And I'd highly reccomend getting Mike Hollingshead's Storm Structure 101 DVD. I think it's $25 and it's worth every penny. It helped fill in a lot of blanks for me.

I know that some NWS offices do offer advanced classes which go more into depth. They tend to offer them around the same times as the basic ones so it may be too late for this year. Several people have mentioned advanced classes on this forum even so I know that they are out there. I have never been but I would assume they talk more about the storm structure and dynamics rather than just simple "what you see" kind of spotting.

Hopefully someone else who posted on the other thread can fill you in on what some of the other NWS call their advanced training. I know that ours here out of Lincoln, IL just call it Advanced Spotter Training but I remember other people posting about names their local offices had given it. At the moment, I don't really remember where the other thread is at.
