Eclipse Intercept - - Lubbock TX
Thank you everyone for your marvelous eclipse images!
We drove from Altus, OK where we spent the previous evening storm hunting to Lubbock on Sunday.
One of my friends was concerned about the overcast that accompanied us much of the trip, but when we got to Lubbock around dinner time, the overcast gave way to just partly cloudy skies.
We drove to a nice open field country road about 8 miles S.W. of Lubbock and set up our cameras there. Strangely enough, not long after the eclipse began, a street of cloud developed and began to envelop the sun. Stranger still it started to move precisely in tandem with the descending sun, prompting me to take us on an "eclipse chase".
One of my friends remarked how strange it was to chase clear sky instead of storms.
We caught the full annular eclipse just as it emerged from the clouds.. it was magnificent, having at least for me the impact of seeing a tornado upclose and personal yet safely.
