I started a group called Tennessee Valley Chasers in order to discuss issues that affect chasers in this area. However, we have found that there is a 1000 character limit that greatly hinders our ability to have meaningful discussions. Am I missing some setting that I could change, is it something that the mods can change, or did I misunderstand the purpose of the social groups altogether?

I thought that the social groups would work like another forum, but the options are a bit different. I hope that we can make it work. :)

This post confuses me. What is the URL to the Tennessee Valley Chasers group and what software application does it run. Hard to talk about what settings may be involved without one or both of those pieces of info.

He is talking about a feature on this forum. To access the social groups click the down arrow on "Community" (which can be found between "FAQs/Rules" and "Calendar" near the top of the forum) and then click "Social Groups"

I think I should form a group for horizontal mounted illuminating units.

The link to the group that Wesley is talking about can be found here: http://www.stormtrack.org/forum/group.php?groupid=9

I think the server/board admin has to check these settings:
First, make sure the appropriate social networking options are enabled for each usergroup:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit Usergroup ->
Profile Styling Permissions
Visitor Message Permissions
Social Groups Permissions

Next, set the appropriate options here:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Social Group Options
